Some people sheepishly admit to thinking that a funds manager based on the Gold Coast must mean we all sit on the beach with laptops in our Hawaiian shirts and long white socks, but nothing could be further from the truth.
Or some sceptics might think that our culture of balance must translate to poor results or under-performance, but at LM we have cracked the penultimate: we have a strong culture of work life balance, and consistently achieve results against targets.
LM is structured into separate teams (or departments) that focus on lending, property services, compliance, accounting, IT, legal, marketing, communication and investment services. Each department works towards achieving set benchmarks or targets.
For example, our IT team have an 'up time' target for all IT systems (covering all three offices) of 99.75%. They regularly exceed this target by achieving up time for 99.91% of the month.
Each month, the whole company gets together and the results of the prior month's activities are measured against the targets. Our result measurement system (or what we call, 'Business Unit Measurement' or B.U.M) is simple but extremely effective.
While our culture values balance and a sense of fun, LM takes the business of being an international fund manager seriously and has measures in place to ensure staff accountability.
So, the best part about working at LM is that our staff are accountable and results-driven, but they have a life beyond work and can be home in time for dinner every night!
